He expired in 17th August 18, 2009 at Mumbai.   A great loss of a dedicated man in our profession.   May his soul rest in peace on eternity.   A brief account of his life:   Dr. Kamalavijayan, in a career spanning over 30 years, has served as Information Manager in various bodies including Kerala University, International Crops Research Institute for Semin Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) and Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (ICAR). Since 1993, he has held the post of General Manager and Chief Librarian of the Reserve Bank of India, and has also worked as World Bank Consultant in the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.   His prolific career includes stints as Vice President of Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centres (IASLIC) since 2002; Director of the 23rd All India Conference on 'Content Management in India in Digital Environment' held at Kerala University, Thiruvananthapuram in December 2001. He also chaired the International Conference on Information Management in a Knowledge Society (ICIM 2005) held at Mumbai to mark the Golden Jubilee of IASLIC.   An author of ten books and several articles, Dr. Kamalavijayan has also edited the Library and Information Science Journal, ALIS Bulletin from 1977 to 1987.    Posted by: Saji S.
